EUI Researcher Radi Mahmoud Secures Prestigious 2026 SCOSTEP Fellowship Amid Fierce Global Competition

Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) has announced that Radi Mahmoud, a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Engineering, has been awarded the prestigious annual fellowship from the Scientific Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) for 2026. Mahmoud secured his spot on the final funding list after competing with elite researchers from top-tier institutions in the USA, Germany, China, Russia, India, and Brazil. This achievement highlights the rising global profile of Egyptian researchers in specialized fields like solar-terrestrial physics.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hamad, Acting President of EUI, stated that this success reflects the high caliber of research being conducted at the university. SCOSTEP, a key body under the International Science Council, has been a leader in coordinating international research on sun-earth interactions since 1966. Mahmoud’s selection for the Scientific Visitation Programme (SVS) will allow him to conduct advanced research at world-class international centers, further strengthening Egypt’s contributions to global space weather and environmental studies.
